In 2026, VOINOVA introduced three inaugural eclipse instrument series developed in response to one of the rarest and most monumental astronomical events of the decade. These instruments were not designed as general tools without context. Each series was born from a specific moment, tied to a specific date, and interpreted through the characteristics of a different region. Each piece of this release is an attempt to translate a fleeting astronomical phenomenon into a physical form that can be touched, studied, rotated, and preserved as an artifact of knowledge.
What is VOINOVA?
VOINOVA is a mechanical astronomical instrument that translates the geometry of solar and lunar eclipses into a visual and physical form that you can view, rotate, and explore directly. This tool can also be called a mechanical astronomical instrument for understanding solar eclipses. VOINOVA helps you understand not only when eclipses occur, but also why they occur.Developed by Padepokan Albiruni, an astronomical community engaged in the study and development of classical astronomical instruments.
Why is VOINOVA Important?
Most people simply observe an eclipse. However, VOINOVA offers a new nuance: it helps you interpret it. From orbital alignment to eclipse timing, VOINOVA transforms rare and long-standing celestial phenomena into a more structured, meaningful, and understandable observation experience. This is crucial for developing critical thinking skills for both students and teachers. How Does VOINOVA Work?
Through a system of calibrated rotating disks, VOINOVA aligns the average movement of the Sun, Moon, and eclipse nodes. When all these cycles converge in a specific position, the eclipse will be visible directly through the instrument.VOINOVA brings the nuances of eclipse astronomy to life without digital simulations, without screens, and only analog mechanical systems that can be physically observed and explored.
What Sets VOINOVA Apart?
This instrument offers a distinct offering. VOINOVA is:- An analog mechanical system, not a digital simulation
- Built on classical astronomical principles
- Designed to determine eclipse timing
- Transforms abstract astronomy into a tactile experience
- Produced in limited quantities
- Available in country editions
- Combines education, design, and visual exploration
Available Formats
In its initial release, the VOINOVA eclipse instrument was made in two sizes. These sizes were selected after extensive research. Each size has distinct features, despite having many similarities.Regular Edition
Made with a diameter of 21 cm. This size is well-balanced, portable, and remains functional for both observation and education.Deluxe Edition
Made with a diameter of 26 cm. Larger scale with more visual details and comprehensive personalization features. The name of the customer/collector is engraved on the instrument, making it more personal and exclusive.Comparison Picture
The VOINOVA Series 2026
In 2026, VOINOVA was specially designed to welcome the total solar eclipse on August 12, which will occur in different regions. 1) HISPANIA — SPAIN
A country that can be called an eclipse laboratory due to the frequent opportunities to witness this rare phenomenon. It could also be called the Land of Observation. Spain has long been a region with strong ties to the history of celestial observation. In the Iberian Peninsula, astronomical traditions developed through a fusion of science, navigation, architecture, and cultural exchange across civilizations. From early observations to the transmission of classical astronomical knowledge, this region has been a place where the sky was not only viewed but studied in depth.
The design of the Hispania edition reflects this heritage: the intersection of geometry, precision, and observational tradition.

2) BOREALIS — ICELAND
Iceland presents a landscape that feels more elementary and quiet. A land of silence that harbors stunning, rare celestial phenomena. The cold air, volcanic terrain, open skies, and minimal distractions create a very different observational experience. Here, observation is no longer just a scientific interpretation, but an experience of being present with the sky itself. The design of the Borealis edition is designed with a more minimalist, calm approach, and focuses on the essence of observation.

3) LUSITANIA — PORTUGAL
Portugal with the name of the land of the horizon. This country has a long association with navigation and the ocean horizon. It was from this Atlantic coast that navigators once sailed, aided by the positions of celestial bodies. The Lusitania edition embodies this spirit of orientation, where the sky is not merely something distant, but a guide for humans. An instrument not only for observation, but also for positioning oneself within the broader expanse of the universe.
